Between 2015 and 2018, I worked as Head of the Design Department at Mohamed Hilal Group in Dubai, where I led and contributed to a wide range of projects spanning product design, luxury packaging, and brand experiences.
During this time, I had the opportunity to work on several brands across different industries, including perfume brands, premium chocolate brands, and restaurant concepts. One of the most memorable projects from this period was the design of the perfume and accessory set Lovebesque for the fragrance brand Khaltat, which was launched in 2016.
Lovebesque – Perfume and Accessory Set Design
The project focused on creating a luxury gift set that would embody the essence and storytelling of the Khaltat brand. Khaltat is known for its concept of fragrances as blends of emotions and memories, with love being at the core of its identity. The name Lovebesque was developed by combining two key ideas that shaped the concept of the product. The first is “Love,” which represents the soul of the brand and the idea that each fragrance is a blend inspired by emotions and human connections. The second element, “Besque,” is derived from the word Arabesque, referring to the ornamental art style that emerged in Islamic culture around the 10th century. Arabesque patterns are characterized by intricate, symmetrical, and often infinite designs that symbolize unity, divine balance, and the complexity of the natural world.
By merging these two ideas, the name Lovebesque reflects both the emotional narrative of the brand and the timeless aesthetic language of Arabesque design.
The set was designed as a complete fragrance ritual, combining contemporary luxury with traditional Middle Eastern scent culture. It includes three perfume bottles of 65 ml each, Oud fragrance, a body lotion, an incense burner, and a tong for handling incense. The intention behind the design was to create a multi-sensory experience that connects modern perfumery with the heritage of fragrance rituals in the Gulf region. The packaging and product presentation were carefully developed to highlight each element within the set, creating a ceremonial and elegant unboxing experience that reflects the exclusivity of the brand.
The 7th Fragrance Foundation Awards Arabia presented LOVEBESQUE Khaltat Blends of Love the Winner of Connoisseur‘s Choice of the Year 2016 - Oriental Set of the Year award.

A particularly memorable moment related to this project occurred when the Lovebesque set was presented to the Hollywood actor Will Smith during one of his visits to Dubai. The moment was recorded and broadcast on television, bringing international attention to the product. Seeing a design I had worked on reach such a global audience was an incredibly rewarding experience and remains one of my proudest achievements as a designer.
The Lovebesque project represents an important milestone in my professional journey. It reflects my approach to design, where storytelling, cultural inspiration, and product experience come together to form a cohesive concept. For me, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a product into a meaningful object that communicates both brand identity and cultural narrative.
