Biography

Luis Romero is an experienced Industrial Designer with more than 20 years of expertise in creating user-focused, innovative, and functional products, impactful exhibitions, and branded environments.

He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and after completing a one-year course in design at the ITESO University in Guadalajara, Luis decided to continue studying Industrial Design in Munich, Germany. 

He gained the broadest possible work experience during his study period. Working at the German automotive concern BMW gave him the chance to familiarize himself with the relationship between styling and manufacturing. Collaborations with internationally renowned designers such as Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam allowed him to reflect on the relationship between concept, story, and product. He worked later for global companies like Nike and Heineken at Springtime Industrial Design, and he finally did his degree project in cooperation with the German concern Koziol in Odenwald, Germany.

His work is driven by a strong curiosity for new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes, paired with a constant exploration of how design strategy translates into meaningful products. His projects have been exhibited at AMBIENTE in Frankfurt, and he received two awards at the “Innovative Vehicles for Kids” design competition in Munich.

Luis started his professional career in Munich, developing furniture, exhibitions, and retail stores for brands like Reebok, Kickz.com and Freeman T. Porter. He later joined Audi’s Konzept Design Studio, where he worked in strategy and product design.

After three years as Head of the Design Department at Mohamed Hilal Group in Dubai, Luis returned to Munich, Germany, to continue developing design-led solutions at the intersection of innovation, strategy, and industrial design.
